K. J. Smith Jr., born May 28, 1922 passed away June 12, 2002 at the age of 80. The son of Kirmon J. Smith Sr. and Stella Hobrecht Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of the Bluebonnet Masonic Lodge # 1219 and Utopia Masonic Lodge # 984, San Antonio Scottish Rite and Alzafar Shrine. He was instrumental in organizing the Alzafar Shrine "NEMNUF", and was the last charter member of this organization. He was also an honorary life member of Anezeh Temple of Mexico City, Mexico, and of Mahi Temple, in Miami, Florida. He was a lifetime member and Director Emeritus of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, and a member of the Mesquite Trail Drivers Association. Owner of KJ Smith and Sons Trucking from 1952-1968. He retired from the Texas Department of Labor and Standard in 1987 after 15 years of service. He is survived by his five children, Kirmon Carroll, Bonnie Lynn, Charles Ed, Kirby and Elizabeth Rose; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, and a very special friend, Gay Zunker.
