She began working as a teenager at Kelly AFB in 1942 as a bicycle messenger (GS-1), and after
34 years retired in 1976 as a senior manager (GS-14) and highest paid female civil service employee at Kelly. During those years she received numerous awards and recognition for outstanding contribution in
materiel management and received a commendation at the White House.
From 1976 to 1980 she continued her career as assistant director of the San Antonio branch of NWASI (Northrup Worldwide Aircraft Systems, Inc.) developing computer programs for Saudi Arabia.
Kitty embraced technology and
was a true pioneer for women in the early days of computers. In 1980 she began a third career as a systems design and project planner at H. B. Zachery Construction Corporation, and retired again eight years later.
Kitty was a 33-year member of the Opti-Mrs Club and served three terms as its president. She
was also a dedicated member of Christ Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Hatten Frost and Dallas Clark Frost; her husband, Archie B. Norris; her brothers, Charles Frost, D. C. Frost, Fred Frost, and her sister, Ferne
Sneath.
Kitty is survived by her brother, Robert E. Frost; stepdaughter, Barbara Arnold, and numerous
nieces and nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 25th from
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring McCullough.
