

Lamarr graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948, attended Baylor University and graduated with a degree in Marketing from St. Mary's University.
He retired from R. J. Reynold's Company after many years of service. He also founded the Lamarr Mackie Orchestra, which was well known in the San Antonio area for many years. Lamarr will be fondly remembered for his love of big-band music, western movies, UT Football, hunting, fishing, boating and collectibles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 54 years, Joan Sherrod Mackie.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Carney Mackie; his daughters, Joni Mackie Kendrick, husband, Kevin and grandchildren, Kelsey, Tyler and Jordan Kendrick all of Austin and daughter, Cheryl Mackie Jones, husband, Michael and granddaughters, Kaylin, Josie and Jaydin of Grapevine; step-daughter, Terri Carney Binkley, husband, Peter and their daughters, Katherine and Jessica Binkley all of San Antonio.
A private memorial service for family is pending.
