She attended Brackenridge High School and was in the graduating class of 1944. LaNelle then went on to attend Trinity University receiving her BA in 1947 and her MA in 1952.
She was a life member of the San Antonio area Retired Teachers Association, TREDDA, San Antonio Federation of Women, and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority-Pi Chapter. She was also a member at Castle Hills First Baptist Church. LaNelle was a teacher and Administrator with the SAISD for 38 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Elmer E. Anderson; son, Dennis H. Anderson; daughters, Lydia Beth Jay Ron, and Nancy G. Moore Brian, all of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Eris McDevitt and Barbara Drummond; and brother, Brian Whitlock.
