

Lanita Dee Freeman graduated to glory Sunday, June 29, 2014. She was born in Rio Grande City on September 29, 1942 but lived almost all of her life in San Antonio. She fulfilled her dream by living in Colorado for a few years in Durango and Pegosa Springs before returning to San Antonio and later residing in Converse.
Surviving her are husband of 48 years Ernest R. Freeman, her children Cynthia Dee Nedell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cheri Willard and husband Neal Willard of Waelder, Texas, Robert Freeman and wife Barbara of San Antonio; her grandchildren Jason Kaples and wife Jaime of Vail, Colorado; Mason and Zachary Freeman of San Antonio, Joy, Jonathan, and Jena Willard of Houston; and great granddaughters Drew Antoinette Kaples of Vail, Colorado and Liliana Willard Toliver of Houston; half -brother John Hadley of San Antonio and wife Komiko, and half- sister Patty Dudley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; cousin Ernie Pyles and wife Karen of Boerne; and many sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by infant son Ernest R. Freeman II, Grandmother Izora Stone, mother Bernetia Hadley, half-brother David Hadley and son-in-law Harold Nedell.
Lanita was known for her beauty and grace, deep love for her family and friends, hospitality, sense of humor and colorful story telling. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and served as Assistant Vice President of San Antonio Savings as well as previously working for Tesoro Energy and Commonwealth Oil Corporation. She later served as sole caregiver to her grandmother and mother for many years. Lanita was the heart and soul of her family and will be missed by all.
Visitation will take place at Sunset Funeral Home Monday July 7, 2014 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday July 8, 2014 at 12:00pm with committal service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
