
After graduation, he served as superintendent of grounds at Texas Tech. In 1962, he became superintendent of parks for the city of Abilene and subsequently became director of parks and recreation.
In 1970, he became manager of the regional San Antonio office of Goldthwaite's of Texas and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1994.
Larry enjoyed playing golf and tennis and supporting Red Raider sports, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Antonio Spurs.
He was predeceased by his parents, Attis and Verna Jones; children Macy Gay Jones and Stephen Lane Jones; in-laws Joe and Debby Almond; and nephew Allen Rasmussen.
Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Almond Jones; sons, Jay Arthur Jones and wife, Margie; Justin Almond Jones and wife, Beth; granddaughter, Hannah Jones; step-grandchildren, Neil and Kris Hastings; sister, Nina Lee Rasmussen and husband, Howard; brother, Derwood Jones and wife, Peggy; sister-in-law, Joann Nolen; and beloved nieces and nephews.
