Larry Miller went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on January 24, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo Miller and Asuncion Galarza, his brother Lenny Miller, and his former wife Sonja Miller.
Larry enjoyed telling stories of his life experiences to family and friends. He loved to dance, cook, travel, hunt, fish, fly racing pigeons, play solitaire, and in younger days enjoyed skydiving and playing semi-professional soccer. He recently kicked up his heels with country western dancing. He loved watching sports on television, such as soccer, UFC fights, boxing, and enjoyed football as long as the Dallas Cowboys were playing (of which family could not understand).
Larry retired from the State of California Housing Finance Agency and was previously at the California Office of Emergency Services. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and as a younger man worked in the lumber industry. He passionately served the Lord as a pastor for many years in Talent, Oregon and Orangevale, California.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sorahana Miller; his son, Tony (Melanie) Miller; daughter, Sandi (Paul) Snelgrove; and three wonderful stepchildren, Ryan (Susan) Stephens, Chad (Jen) Stephens, and Kat (Richard) Funicellio. His life was blessed with six grandchildren, Cody (Danni) Miller, Janae Little, Stevie Miller, Dane (Savannah) Dahms, Jessica (Ryan) Nielsen, and Caroline Hoop. He also leaves behind six beloved great-grandchildren, Ava, Valentin, Ezabelle, Norah, Rayna, and Wesley. Larry is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Mary Jane Miller. He leaves behind his dear niece, Lisa (Geoff) Miller, and many more numerous family members, including many young people that he and family cared for over the years. He had a multitude of good friends he enjoyed spending time with. He will forever be missed by Joe and Anne, who introduced him to his wife, Sorahana.
Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and dear friend. He was compassionate, funny, gregarious, generous, fun-loving, and had a natural way of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. He never met a stranger, and always had time for everyone. His strength could be found in his hope and faith in Jesus Christ.
