

Laura Leon Ivaldi, 96, passed away October 17, 2023, in her home as per her wishes. She was born in San Luis Potosi, SLP, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. with her parents, Josefa Villela and Manuel Leon Fernandez.
Laura earned her B.A. from Texas State University, formerly TWU, and was elected to Zeta Phi Alpha national honor fraternity for freshman and she earned an M.A. from ST. Mary’s University.
For 38 years, she worked as a professional educator in a variety of positions i.e., teacher, counselor, supervisor, and as director of Special Education. In retirement, she was a founding member of the Children’s Museum (DoSeum).
Throughout her life, Laura was a confirmed theatre goer and traveler. She visited European capitals and the Orient. New York City and Hong Kong were her favorites, but Paris captured her heart.
Laura Married Robert E. Ivaldi and was widowed. Also preceding her were her parents. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Fernandez and extended family in Mexico and Massachusetts.
