She married A.C. McCoy in 1948 and moved to Alice and then to Bay City, Texas. In 2005 she moved to The Towers in San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; her parents; her brothers, Carl, Julius Gerardus, Jr., Cecil, and Archie Dudley Johnston. She is survived by nieces, Sandra Folts, Jeanne Carr, Judith Kraft, and Carol Dillon; and by nephews, Douglas, Robert, Fred, John Paul and Dennis Johnston.
