Sparkle was a born artist, whose creativity and talent shined at a very young age. She grew up in the White Rock Lake area of Dallas, Texas surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed neighborhood gatherings and talent shows, sports, bike rides around the lake, Destination Imagination competitions, and seven years as a Girl Scout.
After high school, Sparkle earned her license of cosmetology from the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute San Antonio and worked as a stylist and colorist. First haircuts and transforming little girls into princesses filled her with joy.
The most important and treasured part of Sparkle’s life was being a mother to her son, Madden Harlan-Millar (age 11). Their days together were filled with gardening, bike riding, picnics, raising chickens, soccer, basketball, cooking, and Odyssey of the Mind.
Sparkle was preceded in death by her father, Randall Harlan; grandmother, Patricia Collins Terrey; Great Uncle, Doug Collins; grandfathers, Thomas Terrey and Teddy Harlan; and godmother, Ann Estes.
Sparkle is survived by her son, Madden Harlan-Millar; Madden’s father and partner in parenting, Andrew Millar; mother, Leslie Terrey Harlan (David Neal); brother, Nelson Harlan (Tasha); great uncle, Mike Collins (Kathy); grandmothers, Sylvia Harlan and Betty Terrey; Aunts, Leann Harlan, Lindsey Gillespie (Chris Garza), and Leigh Dryden; cousins, Ashley Waltrip (Craig), Austin Cater, Hunter Gillespie (Madeleine), Colby Gillespie (Natalie), Dell Gillespie (Cody), Delaney Dryden, Helene Dryden, their children, many other extended family members, and her precious cat, Scarlett.
