LeeWoo was very active in sports in the area. If you were around local sports in the area from the 1950s to 2003 you probably encountered him. He coached sixth grade football for 10 years, Little League baseball for five years and Pony League baseball for 30 years. He played on various local teams in baseball, basketball, and swimming and his one true love was racing sailboats. Sailing took him as far as St. Louis, Florida, the Gulf and anywhere you would find water. He raced out of Woodlawn Lake where he served as a Commodore and Lake Canyon Y.C.
As almost a lifetime resident of Alamo Heights he was well known by all the “real mules.” Born in Houston, came to San Antonio in ’35, moved to Alamo Heights in 1937.
His only wish is to be remembered as someone who always tried to be fair in all always. He folded his sails for the last time on February 3, 2026.
