SMSgt Leigh K. Common, USAF (Ret.) age 70, drove off into the sunset on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 to join his parents and his sister on that highway in the sky. Leighbert, as many who loved him liked to call him, was born on April 25, 1942 in Van Nuys, CA, to parents, Lloyd and Lila Common. He had one sister, Lynn Bush, and spent his early years living in Woodland Hills, CA. , he earned his Eagle Scout, graduated from Canoga Park High in 1959, and joined the United States Air Force in 1962. He proudly served his country for 27 years, served in Vietnam, and loved being stationed all over the world. His eyes were unbelievably blue and his quick, witty, sarcastic humor provoked laughter every place he went. He was happiest cruising in his corvette, fixing things, tinkering with electronics, sharing his chair with his puppies, enjoying good food, and being Papa. Waving goodbye as he drove away, his best friend and wife of 18 years, Kay Common; children, Russ Common, Christina Tuchsen and husband Dr. George Tuchsen, Amanda Bernhardt and husband Rick, Texas E. Reardon IV and wife Whitney, James Mitchell and wife Mandy, along with his 13 grandchildren, Devin, Averi, Sage, Christopher and Miranda Tuchsen; Connor and Carson Bernhardt; Adileigh Reardon and Chance, Garrett, Kelsey, Ethan, and Cheyenne. The family will celebrate his life from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Many thanks to Dr. Scott Moore for being not only a caring doctor, but also a friend for all these years.
