Leo H. Breslin of San Antonio, Texas passed away May 21, 2023, with his daughter Shannon Breslin by his side. Born on January 16, 1932, in Camden, New Jersey to Leo and Ann Ellen (Kelly) Breslin, Leo grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1949 and St. Joseph’s University (then St. Joseph’s College) in 1954. An accomplished student athlete, Leo competed in baseball, track, and basketball where he was a star player in both high school and college.
Following college, Leo joined the Air Force and married his high school sweetheart, Mac Jeanett (Jones) Breslin, in 1955. They were together until her passing in 2018. He began his distinguished military career as a radar observer and navigator. However, the majority of his service was in budget and finance. Leo was a standout officer, recognized throughout his career for his leadership, initiative, integrity, communication skills, and ability to accomplish tough jobs with limited resources. While on active duty, he also graduated from the Air War College in Alabama and earned a graduate degree from Auburn University concurrently in 1977.
Leo and Jeanett were stationed in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and the United States, with assignments in Alaska, Alabama, Colorado, Washington DC, and Texas. Leo retired in 1980 as a full colonel and Director of Budget at Randolph Air Force Base.
After retiring from the Air Force, Leo enjoyed a second career starting with Fox Photo, then Qualex, and ultimately retiring from Kodak. He received the same type of recognition, for a job well done and a colleague of the highest level.
Leo is survived by his daughter Shannon Breslin and her wife Kristin Terpening, granddaughter Freya Breslin, and brother Gerard Breslin and family. Leo was predeceased by his wife, parents, sister Ann Ellen Breslin, and brother Msgr. John Breslin.
