Leo was born on October 26, 1925 in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown.
Leo served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947. He then returned to San Antonio where he joined his uncle Leo Picard at Universal Bookbindery UBB.
Leo was responsible for growing the company that was ultimately sold to Taylor Publishing in 1980. Six years later, Leo purchased UBB back from Taylor to ensure that the business remained in San Antonio where it has grown to be one of the leading book binderies in the country.
Leo was very active in the local graphic arts community, and was a past president of the San Antonio Executives Association.
He was also very supportive of the San Antonio Manufacturers Assoc. He was a member of the San Antonio Country Club and Club Giraud.
Leo's generous spirit and care for others earned him many dear friends.
Anyone that knew him will remember his zest for life and his robust laughter!
Leo was especially fond of introducing children to the joys and skills of hunting and fishing in South Texas, something he participated in his whole life.
He was an avid quail hunter which included his love of training and raising bird dogs for field trials and hunting trips. He also enjoyed dove hunting, deer hunting and spending time with his family and friends at the hunting camp or on the back of a pickup in a dove field.
When possible you could find Leo at Port Aransas enjoying salt water fishing and all that the island had to offer.
Leo also loved to fly, owning many single engine airplanes logging thousands of flying hours and is one of the few who can say he walked away from two different plane crashes!
