On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Sonny (Leon Charles Jr.) Wulfe our precious husband, father and grandfather passed away from complications of Parkinson's disease. Sonny was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 22, 1929 and lived his entire life here. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Trinity University and served in the United States Air Force after college.
He was a powerful, positive person who genuinely liked all of those he met and had nice things to say about everyone. His first love was his family and his second was his work at the family business. In 1954, Sonny joined his father and brother Jesse to form Alamo Aircraft Supply Inc. Sonny was most recently President of Alamo Aircraft, one of the largest surplus aircraft military parts companies in the country. He was a natural born salesperson and great negotiator. He took great pride in serving as President of the National Association of Aircraft & Communication Suppliers.
He served on the Board of Trustees of Our Lady of the Lake University and as Chairman of its Finance committee for many years and on the Board of Directors of the Groos Bank. He was a life member of Temple Beth-El and past president of the Temple Beth-El Brotherhood. He belonged to The Argyle and Club Giraud.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children, Scott and Lori Wulfe of Houston, Todd and Anna Wulfe of San Antonio and Courtney Wulfe of Houston and grandchildren Mark Robert Wulfe, Blake Warren Wulfe and Alison Lynn Wulfe of Houston and Samuel David Wulfe and Isabella Leigh Wulfe of San Antonio, his brother, Carl E. Wulfe and wife Sandra, brother-in-law Dr. Ralph Kustoff, brother-in-law Lee Rosenberg and wife, Betsy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Theresa Childs, an honorary member of the Wulfe family for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his brother Jesse E. Wulfe, sister-in-law Jean Wulfe, sister Elaine Kustoff and parents Leon and Hazel Wulfe.
