Leonard Joseph Ohmes went to be with our Lord on March 8, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 26, 1941 to Leonard Joseph Sr. and Neva Fay Ohmes in Lamar, Colorado. Leonard was baptized and confirmed on May 18, 1941 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lamar, Colorado. He received his 1st Communion at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. Leonard's father worked for Hank Williams Sr. and he got to travel to Nashville and around the country. Leonard graduated from high school at the 1st class of Robert E. Lee in May of 1959. Leonard was married to the love of his life, Shirley Catalani on September 4, 1965 at San Francesco Di Paola Church in downtown San Antonio. From 1965 to 1971 Leonard served in the Texas National Guard. He graduated from SAC and also attended UT and UTSA. Leonard studied astronomy and was sent to the White Sands, Sunspot Solar Observatory for 6 months. Leonard ended up in Civil Service for 30 years. He also worked at Data Point and UCC. He was the go to guy at Kelly Air Force Base for any computer needs. His buddies had many nicknames for him; Bud, Joe, Leo, and Sonny. Leonard lived a busy life around his wife and children where he loved being a Boy Scout Leader, coaching CYO baseball, backpacking, shuffleboard, and family camping trips to the beach. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; children, Stacey Katzer (Kal), Jay Ohmes (Gina), Lisa Ohmes, and Stephanie Fay Fiebrink (James); 19 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren, and his sisters, Neva Marie Herold and Mary Cathryn McSwain (CV). The memories of Leonard will always be remembered through his legacy.
