It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mrs. Leonor L. Wilson, age 87. She passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born November 6, 1936, to parents, Francisco Leyva and Victoria Torres in Ganado, Texas.
She became a nurse in the 70's, balancing home life and work while raising her children. She was admired by her coworkers and patients over the years for her compassion and dedication. She enjoyed her career as a nurse tremendously and was a natural caregiver. She started her career at Baptist Hospital, then Santa Rosa Hospital and finally Wilford Hall Medical Center where she stayed until she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents, most of her brothers and sisters, as well as her daughter, Susan Wilson. Leonor is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert H. Wilson; sister, Minerva Leyva; daughters, Karen Wilson, and Carrie Garza; son, Gerald Frank Wilson; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She foremost was a loving, caring, forgiving and supportive woman and mother who was always present when she was needed most. She was selfless and giving, always thinking of others before herself. She loved and cared for her brothers and sisters and missed the ones she could not visit often and missed them dearly after they passed. She was also extremely strong-willed and private, never wanting to be a burden to those she loved and never complained about her physical ailments. She will be missed tremendously, not a day will go by when she will not be thought of and lovingly remembered for the wife, mother and grandmother she was. Her passing has left an immense void in the lives and hearts of those who knew her, but she has left us with many wonderful memories.
May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of her family gone before, until we are all together again. Forever in our hearts and embrace.
