Leopoldo S. Gonzalez, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on December 22, 1933, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, Leopoldo lived a full life, filled with love.
Leopoldo was a proud member of the Edgewood School District. He had a passion for boxing, spending many hours watching matches and sharing his love for the sport with family and friends. He also had an entrepreneurial spirit, often buying and selling at local flea markets, where he enjoyed meeting new people and finding unique treasures.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Francisco Gonzalez; his wife Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez, siblings, Juanita Gonzalez, Esperanza Gonzalez, Felix Gonzalez, Manuel "Memo" Gonzalez, Fidencio Gonzalez, and Ernesto Gonzalez.
Leopoldo is survived by his loving children; daughters, Rosa Laura Gonzalez and Blanca Estella Smith; sons, Leopoldo Javier Gonzalez and Jose Angel Gonzalez. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Nirvana Gonzales, Adalyn Marie Gonzales, Nathan D’Angelo Smith, Tommie Alexander Smith, Angela Maria Gonzalez, Leah June Gonzalez, Tania Gonzalez and Emmanuel Gonzalez; brother, Cesar Sanchez Martinez as well as numerous family and friends.
Leopoldo will be remembered for his warmth and his unwavering support of his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
There will be a Visitation held Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. On Monday, August 19, 2024 our doors will open at 8:30 am with a Chapel Service at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226.
