

Leo Cuello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend of many, left us suddenly but peacefully on May 12, 2008.
Leo's generosity, sense of humor, and joie de vivre were legendary. The same can be said of Leo's career.
He was born on June 3, 1930 in Santiago de Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic and became a U.S. citizen in 1961.
He graduated with honors from every institution he attended and was the recipient of numerous honors including the Bronze Medal for his thesis while a medical student at the University of Paris, France.
He was a dedicated researcher and teacher, and a gifted surgeon. He performed the first Aortocoronary bypass surgery in San Antonio in 1971.
The list of his scientific presentations, publication, exhibits, hospital appointments is long and points to Leo's commitment to and love of medicine.
His work as a cardiothoracic surgeon gave him much joy, but the ultimate source of his joy was his family.
His devotion to his wife and children was unparalleled.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Maria Cuello ne McKain; children, Lea Marie, Molly Caroline, Alec Gerard, Jean Pierre, Francesca, Leo R., Edward; and granddaughter, Alexis.
Dr. Cuello will lie in state beginning at 12:00/Noon on Thursday, May 15th and throughout the day on Friday, May 16th at Porter Loring on McCullough.
Pallbearers will be: Edward Cuello, Dr. J. L. McKain, Andrew Crain, Adam Moyer, Patrick Keaty, Dr. Javier Roman, Dr. Socrates Aramburu, Dr. Heliodro Boone, Manuel Cerda, Jean Pierre Cuello, Brian Moran, John Pitts, Julio Ortiz, Leo Richard, Dr. Jorge Martinez-Prieto, Senator Wentworth and Dr. Pete Fornos.
Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
