

Born July 2, 1943 at Nix Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, LEROY CLIFFORD HUTCHISON JR., died May 8, 2021, at Memory Care of Westover Hills in San Antonio. The 77 years between his birth and death were full of adventure in many places around the world.
The son of Colonel Leroy Clifford and Florence Louise Hutchison, he lived in Washington DC, Japan, and Albuquerque, NM. As an adult, he joined the Marine Corp and served 13 months in Viet Nam. After several more years in the Marine Corp, he settled in California, where he sold security gates. A move to Dallas, Texas in 1988 brought him to Preston Highlands Baptist Church. There he met Grace Coppin, and on October 7, 1989 they were married. Moving to the Texas Hill Country, Cliff opened a coffee shop in Llano, Texas and later worked for Llano Memorial Hospital. His cooking and hospitality skills won him many fans. In 2002, God called him to put his hospitality skills to use on the mission field in Lima, Peru. He ran a guest house for missionaries and mission teams. He and his now family of 8 returned to Llano, where he raised his 6 daughters. In August of 2013, Cliff and Grace moved to San Antonio -70 years after his birth in that same city.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his sister, Linda Johnson, niece Kim, and mother-in-law, Marian Coppin. Survivors include wife, Grace Hutchison of San Antonio; father -In-Law, Gene Coppin of Llano; daughters, Danay and husband Nathan Warden of Dallas, Yessenia and husband Zach Curry of Washington D.C., Diana Hutchison, Sarina Hutchison, and Hannah Hutchison all of San Antonio, and Hellen and Husband Hugo Yebra of Aviano, Italy. Cliff was the proud grandfather of 7-Rachael, Miles, Lydia, Alejandro, Elijah, Mia, and Ivy.
At age, 30, a lonely and broken Viet Nam vet, Cliff gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ. His relationship with Christ was the guiding principle of his life. He leaves a legacy of love and faithfulness to the Lord and his family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 3pm, First Baptist Church, Llano, TX. Dr. Rick Martinez, IMB Missionary, Mexico City, Mexico, officiating.
Burial will be June 2, 2021 at 10 am at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to The Gideons International or Samaritan’s Purse may be made.
