Lexy (Wilson) McBride, age 89, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on February 26, 1936, in Morpeth, England, to parents, Elizabeth (Dodd) and George Wilson. As the wife of a military man, she organized family life through numerous moves in the United States, Europe and the Far East. Over the years, her activities varied from running a base thrift shop, working in gift shops, serving as president of an elementary school PTA and participating with her husband in Anglo American relations from village fetes to cocktails with royalty. Known affectionately as "Lady McBride" by her friends, the highlight of that time occurred when the Royal Air Force demonstration team "Red Arrows" sent her off with a fly over at her farewell luncheon. Hawaii and Okinawa were her other favorite military locations. Not for the sun and sand but it was there that she cavorted with both old and new friends that meant so much to her. She loved travelling, shopping and filled her home with a collection of items from different parts of the world. Her vibrant personality and sense of humor won her many friends wherever she went. Although she cherished her time with East Coast family, military and San Antonio friends, her greatest pleasure in life was that of a doting grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Billy and sister Betty (Wilson)
McConville.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles McBride; son Blake Canedy; daughter Michelle (McBride) Daniel; son Neil McBride; son-in-law Todd Daniel; grandson David Daniel; granddaughter Alexandra (Daniel) Ehly; granddaughter Erin Daniel; grandsons Cole and Chase Canedy and granddaughter Cassie Canedy along with many other extended family members and very special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, located at 2102 North Loop 1604 East.
A funeral procession will depart from Porter Loring Mortuary North at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, and proceed to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209, where a committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
