Lidia G. Hernandez

LIDIA G. HERNANDEZ, age 74, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, gently passed away to be with the Lord on December 24th, 2003 following a devastating stroke and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 13, 1929 in Sinton, Texas to Alfredo and Paula Garcia . She married Bonifacio A. Hernandez on June 21st, 1947.

She was a beautiful, giving, and generous woman, always thinking of others before herself. She brought much joy and happiness to her husband and family and possessed a remarkable inner beauty, kindness, and innocence. May her bright spirit never leave us and may our memories of her many acts of kindness and goodness forever remain in our minds and hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Bonifacio A. Hernandez, two sons, Bonifacio Hernandez, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Coronado, California, Benito Hernandez and his wife, Mary Ann of Salt Lake City, Utah, five daughters, Berta Wagstaff and her husband, Donald of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lidia Allen and her husband, Joel of Tucson, Arizona, her beloved daughter, Isabel Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas, Rosa Maria Vassallo and her husband, Steve of Madison, Mississippi, and her kind and devoted daughter, Anna Maria Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas, eight grandchildren, Margret Hernandez, Andrew Hernandez, David Hernandez, Benito Hernandez, Christine Hernandez, Patrick Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, and Chancelor Hernandez, and brothers, Francisco Garcia, and wife, Sara, Ricardo Garcia, and wife Maria, all of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Guadalupe Salazar, and brother, Jose Garcia.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Mrs. Maria Luisa Ramos and Mrs. Theresa Ross and the staff of VITAS Hospice for their care and compassion.
