Lidia Canales Rodriguez, age 76, entered eternal glory at 11:54 p.m., 27 February 2021 in Austin, Texas, but confirmed on 28 February 2021. Lidia was born in Batesville, Texas to parents Nestor Rodriguez Sr. and Antonia Canales.
Lidia enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, decorating, gardening and praying for all who needed the healing power of Christ. Her wisdom on old customs such as herbal remedies and the power of healing hands began as a child alongside her Native American grandmother, Marinacia Rodriguez Gomez Calsado. Throughout her travels within the United States and Mexico, Lidia made countless friends in places such as Weiser, ID; Phoenix, AZ: Flagstaff, AZ; Gallup, NM; Sheridan, WY; Casper, WY; Billings, MT; Ashville, NC; Fairview, NC; Dalton, GA; El Paso, TX; Eagle Pass, TX; Batesville, TX and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, MX.
The greatest loves of her life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She nurtured each one of them to love and respect family values. Above all she taught them to be faithful humanitarians by binding close family and neighborly ties. She earned her GED and continued special Child Development courses and taught young mothers in her community the value of loving and caring for their children. She worked countless volunteer hours to serve others as an avid social worker and bilingual translator. Her Christian faith allowed her to welcome many into her home to demonstrate Christ’s healing power.
Lidia was preceded in death by daughter, Doralva Ramos; parents, Nestor Sr. and Antonia Rodriguez Canales; brothers, Berardo Rodriguez, Desidoro Rodriguez, Nestor Rodriguez II; sister, Sulema Rodriguez; and Lidia’s former spouse: Steve Eldon Miller.
