Born in her parents’ home on May 6, 1923, Lillian was the second of six children born to Ida and Ottmar Wenzel. After meeting the love of her life, Anton Blaschke, at Luxelo Hall, they were happily married for 56 years before his death in 1999. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to helping others.
Lillian was a faithful servant of God and a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She volunteered her time and talents to others and was always there for anyone in need. She made her home a warm and welcoming place for her family to gather, create traditions and make lifelong memories. Lillian was not only an incredible cook, gardener and seamstress, she was also a master of home repairs! She was as comfortable rolling french seams on church linens as herding cattle and mending fences at the family ranch. Lillian taught us all how to live our lives with a grateful heart. During her 97 years, she gracefully made her way through life, starting with humble German beginnings on her family farm to keeping up with our current technology-driven world.
She is survived by her five children: Marylin Blaschke, Dianna Zimmerman, Elaine (Gary) Jones, LaVerne (Jack) Dysart, Dennis (Carol) Blaschke; ten grandchildren: Brenda (Mark) Frazier, Karen (Brian) Brady, Deborah (Randy) Riggs, Stephanie (Kevin) Nemec, Jennifer (Jeff) Easley, Jamie (Todd) McClanahan, Janelle (Bryan) Urioste, Julie (Todd) Drake, Brian (Emilee) Blaschke, Justin (Ryann) Blaschke; 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Julitta, Eugene, Werner, Erna and Jerome.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Highway on Tuesday, January 26, from 1-6 pm. A private rosary and funeral service will be held to celebrate her life. On Wednesday, January 27, at 11:30 am, the funeral mass live-stream link can be accessed on Facebook (@SPXSA) or YouTube (St. Pius X Rebel News Network).
