Linda Vanlandingham, aged 83, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026. Born on May 27, 1943, Linda lived a full and vibrant life defined by devotion to her family, a keen sense of humor, and unwavering generosity.
Linda attended St. Gerard Catholic School and graduated from Notre Dame High School in St. Louis, Missouri (Class of 1961). Linda continued her education at Notre Dame College. Over the course of her career, she brought her dedication and warmth to several meaningful roles, including work with the San Antonio Police Department Applicant Processing, the City of San Antonio Community Initiatives for the Elderly, the Law Offices of John L. Quinlan, and the San Antonio State Hospital.
Above all, Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. As a widowed mother following the sacrifice of her late husband, CWO Ronald L. Vanlandingham, who was killed in action in Vietnam, Linda provided a stable, happy, and loving home for her boys. Her magnetic personality, captivating storytelling, and razor-sharp wit meant she was loved by everyone who knew her. She was an avid sports fan who hated to lose, was deeply engrossed in politics, and a proud member of the “Treehouse Ladies Scratch Off Group.” Her boundless generosity and family-first spirit leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family was everything to Linda. Her generosity knew no bounds when it came to faith, family, friends and the Republican National Convention. We cannot count the times she has yelled out to us “put it on my Visa” when it came to restaurants, vacations and gifts. Linda did not have a lot, but the little she had she loved to share. Linda absolutely loved her yearly family trips to Port Aransas and staying at Island Retreat. She also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her boys and grandchildren participate in sports and any other extracurricular activities. However, if the going got tough, she would always encourage her family and friends to “just quit”. She put family before herself and spoiled all of her grandchildren. She loved openly and often and managed to live a long beautiful life despite the tragedies she faced.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, CWO Ronald L. Vanlandingham; her parents, Edward R. Pollock and Gerardine “Christilles” Pollock; her brother, Richard “Dickie” Pollock; and her grandson, Ronald L. Vanlandingham III.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald L. Vanlandingham Jr. and his wife Marissa, and Russell S. Vanlandingham; her cherished grandchildren, Zachary Vanlandingham, Cooper Vanlandingham, Preslee Vanlandingham, and Tate Vanlandingham; her siblings, Patricia “Patsy” Glazener, Sharon (Stan) Bonewitz, Gerard “Peewee” Pollock and numerous nieces and nephews.
