Lionel Fern Gilbert

He was born in Manchester, NH, on December 18, 1953. Lionel graduated from Manchester High School West in 1974 and continued his education by attending classes in Manufacturing, Metallurgy, and Toast Masters while raising his family.

He was married to Kathleen J. Austin on September 1st, 1973.

Lionel had successful career in the machine tool industry. He worked his way up from running manual machines to running computer aided machines early in his career. Bridgeport Machines, Inc. recognized his talent and hired him as Senior Application Engineer. Later he traveled the country and the world as Bridgeport’s Regional Sales Manager and Bridgeport by Hardinge’s Technical Sales Manager. In recent years he was content to stay close to home as a CNC Machinist at Precision Mold & Tool in San Antonio, TX.

He was a loving husband and father, his family was always his first priority. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, hiking, gardening and family vacations.

Family members include his wife of 41 years Kathleen J Gilbert, his daughter, Melissa L Therrien and her husband Matthew, his son Lionel J Gilbert and his wife Kari, and his son Keith R Gilbert and his wife Katie, all of San Antonio, TX. He has three grandchildren; Karena Therrien, Aiden Holleran and Joseph Gilbert. He leaves behind one sister, Leona Bailey, of Osteen FL.

He will be cremated at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX. A private Memorial with his close family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 18th.
