Lisl was born in Hobart, Oklahoma November 9, 1946 to Jack and Helen Reed. Lisl spent her childhood in many cities and countries as they followed her father around the world to different military bases. Lisl told amazing tales of visiting the pyramids in Egypt, traveling through Bethlehem, and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. It was on the island of Crete that she met her husband Bill McClure. They were married in his hometown of Michigan City, Indiana. From there, as a military wife, they traveled again, spending a few years in the Philippines and then on to Germany. They returned stateside, lucky enough to be stationed in Texas and Colorado nearby to family. They spent many years based in San Antonio and later retired there. Lisl was very proud to be both a Military wife and daughter.
Lisl loved gardening. She grew beautiful plumerias and other plants. Always adding something new and interesting to their backyard. She also loved animals. For many years she worked as a professional groomer, having gone to school to learn to do so. She had dogs and cats most of her life and was ever tolerant of the many varieties of animals her daughters seem to collect.
Lisl was known as Granny to her three grandchildren. No grandchildren were ever as loved as these three. She was at football games, volleyball games, band concerts, baseball games, school awards, horse shows, cattle shows, robotics competitions - anything that was important to her grandchildren was important to her.
Lisl loved to travel. She and her husband Bill went on many fantastic trips together. One of her favorite places to go was the beach. While she loved any beach, she was always one to remind us of how clear the water was off the island of Crete. You could always find Lisl walking down the beach, gathering shells.
Lisl made friends easily. She spoke constantly of her Bunko friends and Bowling Friends. She loved games and could quickly be talked into a game of Kismet. She was an avid and talented crafter. She crocheted, painted, sewed, did scrapbooking, and enjoyed learning new crafting techniques.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Helen Reed; and her brother George Perry Reed.
Lisl is survived by husband Bill McClure; daughter Candice and husband Travis Thompson of Spring Branch; daughter Kimberly and husband William Long of Harper; grandchildren Garrett, Tyler, and Macie; as well as many other relatives and friends.
