Lore W. Banks, beloved mother and friend to many, passed peacefully surrounded by love. She was born in Bederkesa, Wesermünde, Germany, and came to the United States in her 20s to begin a new chapter of life.
Lore was a gifted hairstylist, known not only for her talent but also for the warmth and laughter she brought to every client’s chair. She had a spark that kept her friends on their toes, a sense of humor that brightened any room, and a heart that was always ready to help others without hesitation.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures - searching for treasures at garage sales and antique shops, traveling near and far, and savoring the German food that reminded her of home. Lore loved nothing more than to sit and visit with people, always greeting them with kindness and her signature endearment, “sweet baby.” Her caring and compassionate spirit touched everyone she met, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
Lore was preceded in death by her parents, Eleonora Brüns and Hugo Otto August Witting; son, Michael David Cox Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cornelia S. Müller; granddaughter, Carol Eva; brother, Frank Witting; sister, Erica W. Hodon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Gentiva Hospice team, especially Connie, Letty, and Chaplain Brentney, for their unwavering support, strength, and love during this time.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary, located at 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX 78212. A graveside service will begin at Mission Burial Park South located at 1700 SE Military Dr., San Antonio, TX 78214 on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
Rest in Heaven, our sweet baby, our guardian angel, until we meet again in paradise.
