Loren Yvonne Castro-Flores, age 38 went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2010 after fighting a courageous eight month battle against pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 21, 1971 in Bensenville, Illinois. She worked for the last 14 years at TXDOT in various administrative positions, most recently getting her dream transfer to the Regional office. She possessed physical beauty that was surpassed only by her magnetic personality and gentle and caring soul. Everyone that met her was touched by her empathic and selfless nature. She was a superlative mother and wife who doted on her beloved family. She loved working out and playing softball. She was known as having boundless energy and was referred to as “Superwoman” by various family members. Her loss is a tremendous one as she was a woman who had few peers. Her family would like to thank Dr. Lon Smith at the START Center and nurses, Jennifer, Bonnie and Joanne, along with the rest of his staff for her exceptional care. We would also like to thank the staff at Vitas Hospice for their caring and understanding ways. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Flores; children, Katherine Marie, Raymond Jared “RJ” and Calista Anne Flores; parents, Tomas and Esperanza Castro; maternal grandmother, Soccoro Gomez; brothers, Eddie and Jay Castro; sisters, Yvette Pacheco and Esmeralda Tracz; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Thursday, July 5, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M.
