Lorenzo D. Mireles, known to everyone as Larry, was called to be with the Lord on March 28, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, the city where his story began on September 5, 1933. He was 92 years old, and what a full and beautiful life those years held.
Larry was a San Antonio original through and through. He married his high school sweetheart, Violet Cantú Mireles, and together they built a life rich in love and family, raising six children over the course of their 46 years of marriage. Violet passed away in 1998, and Larry carried her memory with him always. In 2005, he was blessed with love again when he married Angelina Fuentes. They shared 15 wonderful years together until her passing in 2021.
Larry was a man who believed in hard work and building something of his own. He spent more than 40 years in the automotive business, starting out at Northside Auto Parts before taking the leap and opening his own store, Larry's Auto Parts. That single store grew into several locations across San Antonio, a testament to his dedication, his sharp business sense, and the trust he earned from his community.
But if you asked his family what made Larry truly special, they would tell you it was his presence. He always made sure he attended every one of his children's sports games and school programs. He continued that tradition with his grandchildren and even their children. They loved seeing their Grandpa in the crowd, cheering them on. His grandchildren say they had the most loving, honest, generous, and devoted grandfather a family could ask for.
Larry loved the good things in life. He was an avid golfer who played weekly with his sons in their Bogey Bunch and MIGA golf groups. He was a die-hard sports fan who stayed loyal to his teams through thick and thin, whether it was the Spurs, the Astros, and even those Cowboys. His favorite TV show was Gunsmoke, and he could tell you the entire storyline just by watching the first minute of the show. He loved to travel, and even after turning 90, one of his favorite things was heading to the casinos for a good day at the craps table.. They would always offer him a chair, but Larry was at his best standing at the table with a cold beer and a hot pair of dice.
He is survived by his six children: Lorenzo Mireles (Margy), Terry Fragoso (Robert), Danny Mireles (Debbie), Andrew Mireles (Yvette), Mary Elizabeth Sciaraffa (Andrew), and Veronica Lopez. His legacy will live on through his 18 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. All who adored him.
Everyone who knew Larry knew he was a sharp dresser. He would wear one of his signature guayaberas whenever he went out, and he had so many in all different colors. Any time he went out people would compliment him on how handsome he looked wearing that notable shirt.
To honor their father, the family asks that gentlemen attending any of his services proudly wear their favorite colorful guayabera. For the ladies, the family would love to see lots of color, because they know Larry is celebrating with our Lord in heaven.
We love you with all our hearts and we will miss you, Dad.
