Loretta Maedell Long, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. Loretta was born in Goldthwaite, Texas on December 17, 1935, to her parents Mary Loretta Leverett and James C. Long. Loretta was a teacher and coach for 33 years in a variety of schools, including: Port Lavaca, Texas; Brady, Texas; and Highlands High School in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman E. Long; and daughter, Diane K. Long. Loretta is survived by her daughter, Donna G. Sutter; her grandsons, Benjamin and William Sutter; son-in-law, John B. Sutter; and numerous extended family members, friends, and athletes. Loretta would say, “What a journey!”
A private interment will take place at Rochelle Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Texas, Inc. or Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio.
