

Lori attended Robert E. Lee High School where she was a member of the band, tennis team and basketball team. She excelled in academics where after high school she attended Sul Ross State University and obtained a degree in Communications. Shortly thereafter, she worked as a reporter for Channel 5 News.
Her drive to help others led her to attend Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi where she obtained a Master's Degree in Psychology. She then worked for the Coastal Foundation for Alcohol & Drug Abuse where her true love of helping others was realized.
She was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Montana where she pursued her PhD in neurological Research. While attending the University, she authored several papers that were nationally published on Alzheimer's Disease. She also served as an Assistant Professor at the University.
Lori loved being in Montana where she could frequent the outdoors to hike, bike and enjoy nature. It was a place where no distractions where found and a place for her to write her papers until she had a severe snowmobile accident. The injuries sustained in the accident left her with severe damage to her neck and spine.
She returned to San Antonio to be with family and friends. She had recently moved into an assisted living center and in the short time that she was there, she made many friends.
She will always be remembered for her compassionate and caring nature. She will be missed by her family and friends and all those who knew and loved her.
Lori has been a member of Trinity Baptist Church since childhood.
She is survived by her loving parents, Merlin Winston and Shirley Yvonne Martin; her brothers: Merlin Gary Martin and his wife, Janet; Winston Alan Martin and his fiancé, Fran Rosenthal; nephews, Merlin Gary Martin Jr. and wife, Charly and their daughter, Emmalee Jean; and Christopher Michael Martin.
