

Born in San Antonio, Texas on December 15, 1935, to Isabel Herrera, he was raised by Lalo and Cleofas Ramirez with Angelita Botello.
Louis was a 1952 Fox Tech High School graduate. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, 1953-1994, with combat duty in Vietnam in 1968 and activation in Operation Desert Storm in 1991. His US Postal Service career spanned 1956-2008, during which he earned his BBA from UTSA in 1978. In 1958, he married Alicia Margarita Moreno, and they raised five children.
Throughout his life, Louis was known for his boundless energy, generosity, and kindness. He helped family, friends, neighbors, and strangers and stayed connected through phone calls and visits.
His final years were spent with his son, Louis Jr. before moving to St. Francis Nursing Home. There, he remained active and helpful, assisting others with compassion and care.
Louis was preceded in death by Cleofas (Lalo) Ramirez and Angelita (David) Botello and many close loved ones and lifelong friends.
He is survived by his children, Louis Herrera Jr. (Deborah), Vincent Herrera (Elena), Helen Cheever, Lydia Garcia (Rodrigo), and Christine Castillo (Frank); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and close family members, including Albert Calderon Jr., Maria Luisa Fonseca, Ramon Calderon, Santos Carrion, Maggie Carrion, and Alma McRae; and others, who will treasure his memory.
Louis Herrera lived a life of service — to his family, country, community, and faith. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his strength, generosity, and unwavering love.

A visitation will be held on January 7, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd. Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Resurrection will be Celebrated on January 8, 2026, at 9:30 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas, 78230. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00.
