Louise Hamilton has finished her 92 year journey through this world, peacefully joining her Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in North Georgia, in the District of Little River, to Charlie and Rilla Mae Patterson on September 10, 1928. Louise’s given name was Sarah Louise Patterson. Louise worked as a beautician until 1955, when she met and married Harry E. Hamilton Jr, a career USAF officer and Federal employee with the National Weather Service. Her marriage and travels with him allowed her to start a family and experience life in such beautiful places as Alaska, North Dakota, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, and Texas. While in Louisiana in 2005, Louise’s home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, forcing a move to San Antonio Texas. During her life, Louise enjoyed volunteering at church and with the Cub Scouts. She learned to sew at an early age from necessity, and continued to make clothing as an adult. Louise was a good bowler, and usually on a team when time and circumstance allowed. During her time in North Dakota at Grand Forks AFB, you could find her square dancing with the base club on Saturday nights. Louise and hubby Harry eventually became excellent bridge players, playing weekly, and sometimes even forming and leading bridge clubs after their various relocations. Louise also served as a bridge instructor on several Caribbean cruises. Louise was also a past president of a Beta Sigma Phi sorority chapter in Slidell, Louisana. Louise was devoted to and loved her family more than anything. Throughout her life, whether as a daughter, sibling, wife, mother, or grandmother, Louise could be counted upon for love and support. She truly was a humble, caring, supportive, and sincere human being. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hamilton Jr., and her parents, Charlie and Rilla Mae Patterson, sisters Mary Ruth and Julia, and brother James. Louise is survived by her sons Harry Hamilton III and wife Annette Canabal, and Byron Hamilton, brother Charles Patterson Jr., nieces Mary and Angie, nephews Thomas and Steven; Grandchildren Sarah, Karen, Gabriel, and Alexander, and Grandchildren Gavyn, Lily, Rowan, and Cora.
A Graveside Service will take place on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 9:30 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
