Jim was born in Ogden, Utah to Emmitt Christopher and Anne Marie Watkins. Jim graduated from the University of Utah in 1953 and joined the Army as a 2nd LT. Soon after, he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and met Dortha (Dot) Walters in Oklahoma City. They were married soon after.
Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years and their daughter, Donna; granddaughter Erica and great-granddaughter Rowan. Jim was a loyal and proud Army Officer and served in many places during his career, including the United States, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
A private interment will take place in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
