

Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Kent Campbell, USA (Ret), age 86, passed away in San Antonio, Texas. Jerry was born in Robstown, Texas to Harry and Lucille Campbell. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and attended W. B. Ray High School. Following graduation from Texas A&I with a Bachelor in Science in Chemistry, he received his ROTC Commission as a Second Lieutenant serving in the United States Army. He received his Master’s in Education from Boston Northeastern University. He served in the Vietnam War and received numerous commendations and metals including the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. Other assignments included Korea and Germany. After 20 years of active service, he worked 16 years in federal civil service.
He is survived by the love of his life and soul mate and wife of 54 years, Renate Campbell; sister, Jean Grigsby; daughters, Kim Fernandez (Celestino) and Kellene Coffey (Arthur); and eight grandchildren.
He will be remembered most as a kind and caring husband and father who immensely enjoyed life, laughter and the company of family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors on February 12th at 2:00 pm.
