Lucia L. Tavitas

Lucia "Lucy" Olivia Tavitas, 89 , of San Antonio, Texas left this earthly plane April 08th, 2021 to join her family in Heaven. Born July 01, 1931 in San Antonio Texas, she was the eldest of ten children born to Elisa Flores Luna and Martin Luna.

Lucy was first and foremost a loving mother, whose strength and independence helped her support and raise two strong, independent and kind sons. Exemplified these attributes and instilled them not only in her sons but also the many family members she helped to nurture. Always a strong presence, Lucy played an integral role in her family member's lives. It was her greatest honor and joy to serve as a matriarchal figure for her grandchildren, great-grand child, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Lucy was an artist who spent the years of her life on Earth as a skilled seamstress. She was one of many artistic souls that created the lavish and intricate beaded gowns of the glimmering Fiesta court members. Each season Lucy would place and sew beads no bigger than grains of rice into the beautiful patterns. Her family would like to think that without Lucy those exquisite trains would not have glimmered as brightly.

Lucy will be lovingly remembered by her sons, David Tavitas and Stephen (Ezperanza) Tavitas; grandchildren: Ryan Tavitas, Randa (Justin) Castine, and Stephani Tavitas; great-grandchild, Avalynn Castine; siblings: Alfred (Aurora) Luna, Ruben Luna, Irma Luna (John) Cardenas, Diana (Alfredo) Santos; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Armando Luna; sisters: Naomi Luna, Linda Sandoval, Elva Donnell, and Elisa Dounson.
