Lucille is survived by her college sweetheart and loving husband of 60 years, Byron C. Cole; son Harrison Cole and wife, Julie of Sugar Land; daughter, Marilyn Cole Brock, and husband Stephen of Austin; grandchildren, Jim and Lauren Cole, and Clare, Hannah, Petra, and Nora Brock; sister, Rivers Harrison Lodge of Houston; sister-in-law Jean Cole Bush and husband Ken of Boynton Beach, FL. Additionally, she will be missed by the many family members and friends who loved her dearly.
The Methodist Church was an important part of her whole life, from meeting Byron at a spaghetti supper, to attending adult Sunday school and W.S.C.S. functions. When she was too ill to attend in person, she enjoyed TV church services from her bedroom.
She was a dedicated teacher who, throughout her career, taught kindergarten, junior high and was a pioneer in the high school homemaking field. Lucille lived her life to the fullest. She especially loved to entertain family and friends in her home, welcoming them with her effervescent smile and gracious personality.
The final years of her life were spent under the careful and watchful care of her son and daughter-in-law. In their home the painful medical treatments that she endured during her last years were made easier to bear.
Her physical presence will be missed by all who loved her, but surely they will smile when they think of her preparing a heavenly banquet, complete with finger sandwiches served on the finest china.
