Lucille and Murray married in 1941 and lived in San Antonio before returning to La Vernia in 1947.
Lucille's college degree had not been completed when she began teaching in La Vernia Elementary School. She completed her Bachelors degree at Southwest Texas State Teachers College by attending Saturday classes in San Marcos. She usually got back home while the children were still asleep or so she claimed.
In addition to being a teacher and homemaker she was involved in Concrete Cemetery and The Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron.

When she wasn't teaching her students, she was emphasizing the importance of education to her children and leading by her example.
She continued teaching in her retirement years as a docent at the Institute of Texan Cultures.
Mom's and Dad's retirement years were filled with Super Adults at Laurel Heights Methodist Church, round dancing, traveling, being friends and advisors to their children and entertaining their grandchildren.
Lucille's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Claudia Costescu and her staff at Just Like Home care. The family also appreciates Dr. Margaret Finley's dedication to our mother's care in her declining years.
