Lucy Valdez-Gassman

Lucila Valdez-Gassman, a resident of Bulverde, Texas, was called home to the Lord on April 24, 2026, in San Antonio. Known affectionately as "Lucy" to all who knew her, she was born on March 21, 1969, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, to Manuel and Concepcion Valdez.

Lucy’s professional life was driven by her passion for Business Administration and Real Estate, but her true vocation was her love for people. She was a woman of immense strength and kindness; anyone who crossed her path was immediately drawn to her infectious personality and radiant smile. She had a rare gift for brightening any room and making every person she met feel uniquely special.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Lucy found her greatest peace in nature. She shared this joy with others by teaching an annual archery camp for children and dedicated much of her time to volunteering at a local food shelter. Her spirit of service left a lasting mark on her community.

Lucy is preceded in death by her father, Manuel; her sister, Irma; and her nephew, George. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Gary Gassman; her mother, Concepcion; her siblings, Ramiro, Ricardo, Mario, Edgar, Yolanda, Marilu, and Aracely; and a large circle of friends and extended family.

The Valdez family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who was a part of Lucy’s journey. She will be profoundly missed, but her light remains in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218, on May 2, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again on May 4, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
