Luis R. Garcia, better known to his family and friends as Louie, passed away September 23, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in San Antonio, TX on December 12, 1961. Louie joins his parents, Don and Janie Garcia in heaven.
Louie was the baby of the family, the youngest of three boys. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, older brothers Richard Garcia (Patty Garcia) and Sam Garcia. Among his surviving family members are his devoted nieces and nephew Veronica Valadez, Vanessa Garcia, Jessica Garcia and Don Garcia who stood vigil until his passing. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles came to lend support in the family's time of need. Louis was his mother's constant companion and until her death 19 months ago. He cared for her and cooked for her and kept her on her toes with his jokes and teasing.
Louie was an avid and dedicated outdoorsman, who loved to fish and hunt. A love he tried to pass on to his numerous nieces and nephews who he cherished to no end. He took extreme joy in taking guests out on his boat to fish for Reds. He was a skilled hunter who made sure the family was educated in safety and ethics before being given the opportunity to experience a hunt. He made sure they knew that all animals be taken humanely and all meat consumed gratefully.
Louie was preceded in death by his dear father, Donaciano Garcia and loving mother Janie Garcia as well as his grandparents, Severita and Saturnino Garcia of LaCoste, TX, and Amalia & Fecundo Deanda of Menard, TX.
Louie's family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital, who did everything possible to ease the process of letting go of Louie, with a special thanks to Beth Fecci, RN for her caring and compassion.
A memorial will be held to celebrate Louie's life on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 7pm at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough, San Antonio, TX 78212.
