
LuLu Vargas-Vila Lee died December 22, 2005. She is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth and husband Michael Card; Patricia Lee Schonander; grandsons: Carl Schonander, Lars Schonander and wife Carola, great grandchildren Nicole, Lars and Ana Patricia Schonander: Jan Schonander and wife Maria; great grandchildren Tomas, Camila and Jan Schonander.
Lulu Lee studied journalism at Columbia University in New York. She published numerous articles in English and Spanish; She contributed programs to the Columbia School of the Air, moderated round tables on international relations from Washington D. C. for the National Broadcasting Company. She was Director of Press and Public Relations at the Pan American Union. Ecuador awarded her the Colon Eloy Alfonso decoration.
In her later years in Mexico City she was secretary of the Foreign Correspondents Association and founding member of the journalistic group "20 Women and one Man".
The family would like to thank a special friend Maria Luisa Garza for all the love and care she gave: the staff and caregivers of the Arbors at Homewood Residence in Shavano Park, specifically Kenny Ferguson, Anita Gonzales, Joanne Waldron, Nancy Sandoval, Dana Smith, Erlinda Cruz, Sean Hernandez, Theresa Hamilton, and Melissa Barerra. A special thanks to the kind and caring people of Vista Care Hospice.
