Lupe Guillen Rodriguez was born on July 1, 1938, to Augustine Guillen & Juanita Quiroz Gonzales in San Antonio Texas. Lupe was the valedictorian of Sidney Lanier High School. Lupe married her high school sweetheart Manuel Mario Rodriguez. They celebrated their 50 years together right before Manny’s passing in 2008. They were able to share a joyous life together traveling all over the world, and welcoming family and friends at numerous celebrations in their home. Lupe remained lifelong friends with many of the “Fabulous 50’s Group” of San Antonio. She worked civil service at Kelley AFB. She went on to become a successful real estate broker in San Antonio, New Orleans, and Las Vegas. She & Manny took great pride in educating their 3 daughters Esther, Carmela, and Camille at Princeton University, Stanford University, Tulane University & Tulane Law. Lupe was generous, intelligent, and ahead of her time, always wanting to learn something new. In her retirement, she enjoyed time with her children & grandchildren & hitting jackpots at the Rampart Casino in Las Vegas where she was known as the Queen of the Slots, and as the big tipper who always wanted to share the wealth. Lupe passed peacefully at home at the age of 85. Rest in Peace Lupe, you will be greatly missed.
