Lydia Bernal

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lydia was born in San Antonio, TX. On August 5, 1931and passed away on October 27, 2021 at the age of 90.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gonzalo. Lydia is survived by her four children: Marie Coyne (Barry), sons, Jason Mendolia, Matthew Coyne and Tyler Coyne; Danny Bernal, sons Dr. Nathan Bernal and Brian Bernal, Kathy Bernal and Paul Bernal (Melissa), children, Louie Escamilla, Angelina Bernal and William Bernal; great granddaughters, Sakoia Coyne ,Ava Bernal and Avalynn Bernal.

Lydia loved to cook and bake for the holidays which she enjoyed sharing with family, friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed her monthly Bunco games with longtime friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary Service that evening at 7:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. The procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM for interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, our mother would like donations made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her name.
