Lydia C. Jass of San Antonio entered into rest on January 11, 2013. She is reunited in heaven with her parents Indalecio and Aurora Chapa, Sisters Amelia Covarrubias and Mayme Cepeda and Brother Pedro Chapa. Born in La Pryor, Texas Lydia moved to Devine, Texas when she married Gonzalo Jass, who preceded her in death. Later they moved to San Antonio. She proudly raised her two daughters, managed a flower shop and was a very successful gift shop manager/owner at two local Riverwalk hotels. Everyone was drawn to her beautiful green eyes and bright smile. Family and friends couldn’t wait to come to her house for some of her delicious cooking.
Lydia is survived by her two daughters, Rose Marie Jass of Corpus Christi and Katherine Jass Lopez of San Antonio, her pride and joy, her only grandson, James A. Lopez of Dallas, and her beloved Larry Rodriguez of Devine Texas. Lydia and Larry found each other later in life and spent the last two years happily enjoying life. She was also fortunate to have her dear friend Irene McHazlett, whom she could always depend on and spoke on the phone several times a day. Lydia is also survived by Brothers Gilbert Chapa of Uvalde and Alejandro Chapa and wife Christina of La Pryor; Sisters Lucy Medellin and Olga Reynolds of Lubbock, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
The family would like to thank the emergency medical technicians and the doctors and nurses at Metropolitan Methodist who took such good care of her in her final days.
