Lynn was born in Riverside, CA to Richard and Lorette (Mundahl) Zick on May 28, 1963. He was baptized on September 8, 1963, at Hope Lutheran Church. When he was almost 3, his family moved to San Antonio, where he lived the rest of his life. The family moved into what became an extended family area where at times up to 13 cousins and maternal grandparents were neighbors. He was in boy scouts, attended Christian bible camp, was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, played basketball for school, and loved having pets - mainly dogs. He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1981. In 1985 he became Godfather to his niece Heather. He worked as a bar manager for several years. Then he began trucking for a total of 19 years with different companies, including hauling milk from Texas panhandle dairy farms to HEB. His travelling companion was usually with one of his 7 Keeshond dogs. He travelled 3-4 million miles over this career.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents, and an infant brother Randy.
