Joyce was a loving wife and mother, devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. "Nana" loved sewing, camping, road trips and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward Peter Strain; brothers, J.Q. Short, Rupert W. Short and Raymond A. Short; and sister, Doris Short.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Linda Akin-Cook; son-in-law, Werk Mackoy Cook; granddaughter, Kathryn Akin Corrigan and husband, Porter Corrigan; great-grandchildren, Cash, Lottie and Clary; sister, Emma Bea Oltersdorf; numerous nieces, nephews; and beloved dog, Clementine.
Nana will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her. Special thanks to the staff at Starlight Homes-Coral Grove location. The family is very thankful that Nana spent her last days with such a loving and attentive staff that cared for her like their own. She adored her caretakers and her best friend Coco, aka Funny Face.
