MAJ James Robert “Bob” Williams (ret. U.S. Army) was born in Greenville County SC. He joined the U.S. Army and served in a combat engineers unit during WWII in Europe and an artillery unit during the Korean War. MAJ Williams participated in two amphibian assault landings- Normandy, France and Incheon, N. Korea. After 23 years of military service, he served 20 years as a Civil Servant at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. Mr. Williams received his B.S. Degree in Business from Oklahoma University. He was a member of the Ft. Sam Houston Optimist Club and the Texas/Oklahoma Chapter of the National 4th Infantry Division.
Mr. Williams had three children; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 with the funeral service to be at 12 noon at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com .
