Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was a graduate of Purdue University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He served 34 years in the United States Air Force after which he worked nine years at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, as Chief Financial Officer and then, as Director of Installation Support.
He was awarded the Legion of Merit four times, the Distinguished Flying Cross twice, the Air Medal twice, the Croix De Guerre with Palm, and the NASA Exceptional Service Medal. He was a member of the Protestant Congregation at Air Force Village II Chapel, The Retired Officers Association, the Air Force Association, Order of Daedalians, Sigma Chi Fraternity, and a Red Cross Volunteer.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Jeanne L. Fitzgerald; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and two nieces.
