Major Pauline Anna Christine Gustafson, U.S. Army (Ret.), died at Parklane West Healthcare Facility in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, June 5, 2009, at the age of 97. She was born near Manor, Texas on October 11, 1911. Pauline graduated from Brackenridge School of Nursing, Austin, Texas and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Austin State School before joining the army. She began her military career in 1942 and was medically retired in 1966 after 24 years of dedicated service to her country in Japan, Germany and various Posts in the United States. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Gustafson and Christine Peterson Gustafson. She is survived by her cousins, Linnea Harris, Leonard Gustafson and Edward Peterson.
